Notes

A lifelong resident of New Jersey, she was born in Newark and graduated from St. Michael’s Catholic High School. Her career included employment with Bell Telephone, retail sales at J.M. Towne and retired as an Administrative Assistant with ADP in Roseland. Her zest for life and love for her family were paramount to her as she shared her passion for music, dancing, water sports, and traveling. Whether it was to Ireland or Nova Scotia, planning trips with her friends or family to Florida, the Jersey shore or taking her children and their families for a fun filled weekend to a log cabin in Pennsylvania, she always had a good time and a fun sense of humor. Her desire to create wonderful family memories and instill a strong foundation of her roots in Nova Scotia and the Irish traditions she inherited from her mother with her children, have been well preserved and passed down to each generation with great pride and close in heart. She was a charter member and multiple term Past President of the Women of Irish Heritage of NJ and served on several St. Patrick’s Day and Irish Festival Committees over the course of her lifetime. In 1996, she was the Deputy Grand Marshall of the Newark St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In her retirement, she resided in Toms River, at the ‘shore’ by the water which she found peaceful, relaxing and provided her much happiness. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Miller, Brenda Boland, Julie Johnston (Dave), Joseph Sommer (Jeanette) & Jennifer Voutsinas (David), her longtime friend Donald Hannon, as well as 11 grandchildren ….
